At black hill dog company, our training plans are as unique as your dog. We offer formatted programs, but build a plan to meet the needs of your dog. Wether you are looking to work on specifics like recall or public access training, or if you want to start at the beginning with the introduction of obedience, we will work with you to make a list of goals and a realistic plan.
Puppies are our passion here at Black Hill. Setting up your new pet for a successful future is a top priority. As a result, we have an array of programs designed and built to meet the needs of our clients. Ranging from puppy classes to one on one training including home sessions, Whatever your family needs, we are here to offer.
Not every case is easy. Many dogs struggle with difficult behaviours and it can be hard to know where to start. Our behaviour modification program starts with our evaluation and assessment process, which is designed to deep dive into everything about your dog. Depending on the challenging behaviour, a phone consultation or in person assessment at our facility will be required. This helps our trainers truly understand the needs of your dog and your family, so we can design the best program possible. We will assess goals, life style, management expectations and training methods that will produce the most manageable results.

Overnight Boarding
Our kennel(s) have been designed to meet and exceed all the safety and sanitation needs set out by the Prince Edward County bylaw. Our number one priority is to ensure all pets in our care are safe, clean and comfortable throughout the duration of their stay. Our Upper kennel houses short term boarding pets, as well as dogs who participate in our day programs like our K9 Social Club and day boarding pets. Dog’s who are social, enjoy having neighbours and don’t mind the hustle and bustle of a busy day, can enjoy the upper kennel environment.
Our lower kennel houses our board and train pets, as well as dog’s who are with us for long term or extended boarding. Pet’s who need space socially, enjoy a quiet calm environment, and need more privacy can also enjoy our lower kennel area.
Both housing units are climate controlled (heating and cooling) with both hot and cold water, non permeable flooring and 24 hour surveillance. The facility is located on a 30 acre farm property, with the owners primary residence on site. There are large windows for natural lighting, as well as indoor and out door lighting for year round comfort. All dogs are provided with raised dog cots for comfort, as well as stainless steel bowls and buckets for eating and drinking. Dogs are provided fresh water throughout the day, and are fed twice daily. We do accept more detailed feeding protocols including multiple feeds throughout the day, supplements and medications to be administered when necessary as well as raw feeding.
All dogs with overnight boarding reservations are here for stay and play fun. This means dogs are out in one of our fenced areas off leash with other dogs, to play, run and explore. Dog’s have ample opportunities through out the day to enjoy play, and have access to wadding pools and shaded areas in the summer, and fun snow paths and wind breakers in the winter months. During down time, dogs are housed in their own private lodging indoors with climate control.
Socially selective dog’s are assessed on an individual basis by one of our experienced trainers/handlers, are are placed with other dogs that meet their social requirements.
Dog’s that are not social with other dogs, still receive the same structure and off leash enrichment that stay and play dogs receive, but spend time alone in the off leash areas.

K9 Social Club
At Black Hill Dog Company, our K9 Social Club Doggy Day Care offers a personalized experience with limited group sizes to ensure every dog receives individual attention. We focus on enriching your dog's day with a variety of mentally and physically stimulating activities designed to promote socialization, confidence, and overall well-being. Whether it’s interactive play with other dogs, pack walks, or structured exercises, our enrichment programs support healthy development and happy dogs in a safe, controlled environment.
Our canine social club takes a core social group approach. These groups are built and designed to foster confidence, socialization and as a great way to explore and grow with other dogs. Because of this approach, there is a degree of commitment. Our social groups are small, no more than 12 dogs per group, with an aim at keeping the dogs designated to group’s as consistent as possible.
We provide ample opportunity for exploration through play, pack walks and engagement exercises. Social Club dogs enjoy off leash trail walks in our 10 acre fully fenced field, as well as agility exploration and play. All social groups are overseen by an experienced dog trainer/handler.
It is a STRONG recommendation that you’re up to date with vaccines including bordetella, and should be on flea/tick prevention and a deworming protocol. Training Upkeep Overnight Boarding Packages
This option is available for dogs that are currently part of or have participated in a Black Hill Training program in the past.
Our training up keep board and train has a 7 day minimum, to brush up all the skills your dog has learned while training with us.
This is a great option for clients who wish to offer more to their dog during their stay, that is outside of our standard stay and play.

At Black Hill Dog Company, we offer convenient grooming packages during your dog's boarding stay in Prince Edward County, Ontario. Our grooming services include bathing, brushing, nail trimming, and ear cleaning, tailored to your dog's specific needs.
Choosing a grooming package while your dog is boarding ensures they come home looking and feeling their best, with minimal disruption to your schedule. Our staff pay close attention to each dog's temperament and coat condition, providing gentle and thorough care.

Basic Grooming $20.00 + hst: Bath and brush-out.
Full Grooming $40.00 + hst: Bath, brush out, nail trim and ear cleaning.

Dog Training - Day Training Program
Our training day program is a hybrid between our board and train program and our private lesson courses. It allows your dog to be immersed and trained by us in a new neutral environment at our facility for an entire day and is then sent home with detailed instructions on continuing the work we have started.
We help your dog achieve breakthroughs in their training while they're with us, which you then reinforce throughout the week so we can move them into the next phase of their training plan.
This is a 5 week program where the dog is dropped off in the morning and picked up in the evening. After each training day, we send home detailed training videos of their progress, and what is to be worked on and practiced prior to their next breakthrough session. The day of the final session, you will meet with the trainer to discuss progress and review exercises.

4 Week Duration
Our board and train program is a reset for your dog. We follow a very structured routine and create a balance of training and play to help your dog easily understand expectations. We take on the bulk of the training by putting in thousands of reps, and working with your dog multiple times each day to help your dog achieve goals.
Your dog will go home well-equipped with a new understanding of what is expected of them, and all you need to do is follow our in-depth training guide, and continue reinforcing what we have started. All our board and train programs include a core understanding of obedience commands including:

Loose leash walkingYou will receive weekly progress reports and check-ins. At the end of their stay, we send a video training guide of your dog, and complete an in-depth lesson scheduled a few days after your dogs discharge from the program. Our E collar board and train program is offered to any owner looking to gain full off-leash control of their dog. Distance and distracted recall is a focus of this program, while also implementing the tool to teach duration and distraction to all commands covered in our standard board and train program

3 Week DurationAre you having trouble training at home? Was pup off to a great start, and now things are slipping? Does your pup need some help getting over a behavioural hump? This 21 day puppy boot camp is a great way to sit back, relax and let us work out the kinks!
As in human development, puppies endure many of the same challenges as they mature. Between teething, continuous physical changes and hitting sexual maturity, all pups are prone to some regression in their behaviour in the first year. We are here to help!
Our program introduces a predictable and consistent structure that is designed to re-establish the family order. There is a large emphasis on independence, confidence building, impulse control and household manners.

4 - 6 Week Duration
Leash reactivity is a common issue for many dog owners, and our specialized board and train program is designed to address this behavior effectively. Over a duration of four to six weeks, we will work intensively with your dog to reduce their reactivity while on a leash.

Training Sessions: Your dog will undergo daily training sessions with our experienced trainers. These sessions will focus on leash manners, impulse control, and building confidence.
Owner Involvement: Training does not stop with your dog. We will provide ongoing support, including training sessions with you to reinforce the skills your dog learns during the program.
Outcome Expectations:
By the end of this program, you can expect your dog to show improved leash manners, reduced reactivity, and an overall increase in their ability to focus during walks. Our aim is to help foster a more enjoyable and stress-free experience for both you and your dog.
